Delhi Street Graphics

When the Organizing Committee of the XIX Commonwealth Games, held in Delhi, India in October, 2010, needed to create a world-class track for the road cycling time trials, they turned to Avery Dennison to help produce eye-catching track decals.

In partnership with local digital printer Roop Graphics, Avery Dennison proposed using an amazing new material: Avery MPI 6121 Street Graphics Film. This revolutionary 45 micron non-PVC cellulose film delivers a very high-quality finish and exceptional on-road performance. It uses "micro-fracture" technology that allows it to fracture and conform to rough surfaces, such as concrete, brick and asphalt, for up to six months. It is also simple to apply and can be easily removed after use.

Crucial to its application on the cycling track, the MPI 6121 Street Graphics Film also incorporates new technology that allows moisture to channel through the substrate, limiting water pooling and reducing slip hazards.

"MPI 6121 Street Graphics film enables designers and marketers to install promotional signage in almost any outdoor location where they want to make an impact," said Pravin Krishnan, the Fleet & Architecture Segment Manager for Asia Pacific region of Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Division. "It is perfect for promotional events, trade shows, fairs, and major sporting events like the Commonwealth Games, where the world is watching."

Almost 500 square meters of the advanced MPI 6121 Street Graphics film was used to create the track decals for the Games' cycling time trials, delivering dramatic street graphics that reflected the excitement and color of the competition.

Key features of the MPI 6121 Street Graphics film include:

  • Excellent print performance, ideal for digital UV-curable inks and solvent and eco-solvent inks
  • Matte finish with a paint-like effect and outstanding outdoor color durabilityConforms well to very rough surfaces through micro-fracture technology
  • Minimizes edge lift, reducing trip and slip hazardsDimensionally stable liner for easy converting
