6. Cookies and similar tracking technology

Cookies and similar tracking technologies, such as scripts, web beacons and tags (which together we refer to as “cookies”), are small bits of text, usually stored on a user’s computer hard drive or within a browser. They enable a website (and/or other websites which can recognise a cookie) to remember information about the user’s visit to that website.

Cookies are used to make the website work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the website.

Such information may be used to provide a more personalized and responsive service. Cookies may be either first-party cookies set directly by us to your device, or third-party cookies set by a third-party provider on our behalf. Whenever you use this Website, information may be collected through the use of cookies and other technologies.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technology (collectively, “Cookies”) to collect and use personal information about you, including to serve interest-based advertising. For further information about the types of Cookies we use, why, and how you can control Cookies, please see our Cookie Notice.

7. How do we keep your personal information secure?

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information that we collect and process about you. The measures we use are designed to provide an appropriate level of security to the risk of processing your personal information. Avery Dennison has a comprehensive security program with a focus on protecting personal information including data classification process. This way we ensure that access to your data is protected and granted solely on a need-to-know basis.

8. International data transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to, and processed in countries other than the country in which you live. These countries may have data protection laws that are different to the laws of your country.

Specifically, our Website servers are located in the US, and our group companies and third party service providers and partners operate around the world. This means that when we collect your personal information we may process it in any of these countries.

Some jurisdictions require the implementation of specific safeguards for transfers of personal information abroad. In order to ensure adequate protection of your personal information transferred to third countries, we have taken appropriate safeguards which include, among others, the implementation of the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers of personal information between our group companies and to third parties, which require all  companies receiving the information from the EEA and the UK to protect it in accordance with European Union (EU) or UK data protection laws, where applicable. We are also in the process of applying for Binding Corporate Rules that once implemented will ensure a significant level of protection for transfers of information between our group companies.

9. Data retention

We retain personal information we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymise it or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Whenever we collect your personal information based on your consent and you notify us of your decision to withdraw your consent, we will delete your information upon your request unless we are permitted (or required) to retain it under applicable data protection laws. Further, withdrawing your consent will not impact our use of your personal information collected for other purposes when based on a different legal ground, such as where we have a legal obligation to retain this information.
